IMG_0113Christopher H. Jones was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Commerce and Business Administration, and was awarded a Bachelor of Science in 1987. Upon graduation, he received a commission through R.O.T.C. as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves. During law school, he served with the 493rd Military Police Company as a Platoon Leader. In 1990 he graduated from University of Alabama School of Law, and became licensed to practice law.

Jones joined the Tuscaloosa, Alabama law firm of Zeanah, Hust, Summerford & Davis as an Associate in 1990. He made partner with the firm in 1995, and remained with Zeanah, Hust, Summerford, Davis & Jones until 1999. He practiced in the area of civil litigation with a focus in insurance defense litigation.

In 1991, Jones resigned his commission in the U.S. Army Reserves, and he received a direct commission as a First Lieutenant Judge Advocate in the Alabama Army National Guard. From 1991 until 2001, he served in various positions including Contract Law Officer, Assistant Judge Advocate, Chief Criminal Law, Chief Administrative Law and Contract Law with the 167th COSCOM, Alabama Army National Guard in Birmingham, Alabama. He was promoted to Captain in 1993, and was promoted to the rank of Major in 1998.

Jones left the law firm of Zeanah, Hust, Summerford, Davis & Jones and opened his law office in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1999. He had a general civil litigation practice, representing plaintiffs and defendants.

In October 2001, Jones was ordered to active duty with the U.S. Army and served as Domestic Operations Attorney, with Joint Task Force-Civil Support at Fort Monroe Virginia. He focused on legal aspects of domestic operations for Department of Defense forces responding to a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosive (CBRNE) incident in the United States. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in March 2003.

Jones came off active duty in October 2003 and returned to the private practice of law in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, with a focus in civil litigation, including personal injury, domestic relations and landlord-tenant law. He continues to serve in the Alabama Army National Guard. In 2004 Jones became Staff Judge Advocate of 62nd Troop Command, Alabama Army National Guard in Montgomery, Alabama. In 2008 he was promoted to Colonel and was assigned as the Staff Judge Advocate of the 167th Theater Sustainment Command at Fort McClellan, Alabama, where he serves as senior legal advisor for a Major General Commander and Staff.

Jones is a member of First United Methodist Church Tuscaloosa. He has been married to Virginia Jemison Jones for over 23 years, and they have 2 children, Jemison Christopher “J.C.” (12 years old) and Jessie Katherine (9 years old).
